GOD satsang celebrated Vamana Jayanthi and Onam festival at the Houston Namadwaar on Saturday Aug 21 with Nama sankirtan and a special performance by both children and adults. Mahamantra Nama sankirtan was performed from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Namadwaar that morning. Following the arati, the devotees moved to the house adjoining the Namadwaar, where the children of Houston Gopa Kuteeram put up a wonderful enactment of Vamana Avatar and Bali charitram, beautifully depicting the subduing of King Mahabali’s ego by Lord Narayana in the form of Vamana.
This was followed by a special Thiruvathira dance performance by the womenfolk of Houston GOD satsang. Thiruvathira is Kerala’s traditional dance that is performed during Onam, which is said to be the day when King Bali annually visits his land and people (from Sutala loka where he resides ever since his surrender to the Lord).
