Madhura Utsavam in Houston during Memorial Day Weekend

With the grace of Sri Swamiji, the long weekend of Memorial Day was truly memorable for all those who attended the Madhura Utsavam at Houston Namadwaar. Devotees from India, California and Dallas came to participate and enjoy the events. Several new local families participated in various programs throughout the weekend.
The Utsavam began with Narasimha Jayanthi celebrations on Thursday, May 23 2013 evening at Namadwaar where Ramaswamyji spoke on Prahlada Charitram, following which kirtans on Lord Narasimha were sung.
On Friday, Akhanda Mahamantra sankirtan was performed from 7 am to 7 pm, followed by Madhura Gitam – rendition of Sri Swamiji’s kirtans by all the devotees. On Saturday, again Akhanda Mahamantra kirtan was performed from 7 am to 7 pm followed by Divya Nama Sankirtanam in the evening.
On Sunday, Akhanda Mahamantra kirtan was performed from 8 am to 6 pm followed by a unique Teppotsavam. The Teppotsavam was conducted at Dr. Lekshmi and Sri Jeevan Nair’s clinic facility grounds (New Life Plaza), which has a beautiful pond amidst lush greenery on all sides. The event was carefully planned to ensure the safety of everyone, especially children. A wonderful “boat” had been constructed for Sri Premika Varadan-Madhuri Sakhi and this was now decorated beautifully with flowers and festoons.

The Divine Couple, who had arrived from Namadwaar, were first carried in a short procession to the pond to the singing of kirtans. Then they were lowered carefully into the water, and with a few devotees standing guard around them on all sides of the pond, the Couple began to enjoy the beautiful kirtans glorifying them as they enjoyed a leisurely ride around the pond.
The ambiance was indeed divine, with the gentle breeze that caressed the Divine Couple, in turn caressing all the devotees and transporting them verily to Madhurapuri where Teppotsavams are performed by Sri Swamiji Himself.

Several Sampradaya kirtans composed by great mahatmas were sung, including many Jayadeva ashtapadis. In the beautiful twilight, the Kalyana Ashtapadi was sung and Radha Kalyanam was performed for the Divine Couple. It was indeed an exhilarating evening for all present.

Even after the Couple were taken back inside the facility, the kirtans continued as the devotees did not want the evening to end. Atma Nivedanam stotram was chanted, surrendering everything to the Lord. The evening finally came to an end on a high note.

On Monday morning, Mahamantra kirtan was performed at Namadwaar from 8 am to 11 am followed by Anjaneya utsavam.
