Bhakti Sugandham, the Fragrance of Devotion

Srimad Bhagavatam, the bhakti text; the source of that fragrance of devotion!

This crown jewel of all Puranas bestows the highest bhakti easily on those who simply listen to it; oozing, as it is, with the sweet nectar of the stories of the Lord and His devotees ready to be drunk through the ears. When one listens to Srimad Bhagavatam, the Lord Himself enters through the ears, enters the heart, cleans it and seats Himself there. For Srimad Bhagavatam is the very incarnation of Lord Sri Krishna!

‘Bhakti Sugandham-The Fragrance of Devotion’ is a vibrant Bharatanatyam dance ballet based on Srimad Bhagavatam, a 5000-year-old sacred Indian text, and extols its glory, presenting its beauty through legends depicting each of the Nava Rasas (the nine emotions, namely Courage, Wonder, Anger, Love, Disgust, Compassion, Fearfulness, Humor and Peace).

This Bharatanatyam ballet weaves an English narrative with traditional Indian classical music, the enthralling musical compositions of Indian spiritual master His Holiness Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji, and original Sanskrit verses from the Bhagavatam itself. It transports the audience to the Age when Bhagavatam took birth, and glorifies Bhagavatam with music, dance, drama, story-telling and other theatrical elements.

‘Bhakti Sugandham’ is sure to delight the audience with its spiritual, musical as well as visual grace and beauty.

This production brings together several dancers from reputed dance institutions in Houston and also from other parts of the United States.
