Weekly Friday Telecons

According to the scriptures, the vibration or the sound is extremely powerful.  The vibes created by certain sound can influence one’s environment to a great extent.  That is the prime reason that the recitation of the Vedas is accorded supreme recognition in Sanathana Dharma.  Mantras bring divinity to a place.  If  certain Mantras are repeated constantly, then the very place that we live in, becomes purified.

What Mantra does the scriptures recommend for repetition, in this Age?  The Kali Santarana Upanishad recommends the Mahamantra:

Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare |
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare ||

as the one Mantra / Nama that can be chanted to bring auspiciousness, peace of mind and happiness in this Kali Yuga.

A solitary rose or a jasmine flower smells great, no doubt. But it can never match the sweet fragrance of a bouquet full of them. Likewise, chanting the Mahamantra individually is great, but more radiant are the vibes generated by chanting as a group.

Recognizing the fact that friends are distributed across geographies and in order to provide more and more opportunities for satsangs,   satsangs are conducted teleconferences, so that people can participate in the satsangs by dialing in through their telephone line, from where ever they are.

Every Friday evening, devotees from different parts of the country dial into a teleconference bridge-line and congregational worship is held for 60 minutes.

This initiative was started on August 1st, 2008 and happens every Friday at 8:30 pm Central (6:30 pm Pacific  / 9:30 pm Eastern)

The satsang starts with 10 minutes of Mahamantra Kirtan.  One of the devotees leads the Mahamantra Kirtan on the telephone and the rest chant.

Then the participants on the call introduce themselves.

This is followed by about 25 minutes of Satsang discourse by a devotee.  The topic is usually around the divine plays of the Lord, incidents from Srimad Bhagavatam/ Srimad Ramayana /  other epics / Bhagavata Dharma/ the life histories of great Mahatmas / the glory of Guru / Nama Sankirtan.

After this, special prayer requests for the needy are announced, when participants on the call may spell out any specific prayer requests they have, for which the entire satsang shall pray.  This is followed by 5 minutes of Prayers with Mahamantra Kirtan, led by one devotee.

The satsang closes with this prayer session.
