Cherished Memoirs 92 – My Guru As I See Him

Arunachaleshwara’s Grace

This series chronicles sweet experiences recounted by the devotees of HH Maharanyam Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji as well as some divine experiences of Sri Swamiji himself. These articles are translations from the series “Madhuramaana Mahaneeyar” that is published every month in Madhuramurali Tamil monthly magazine.

This month’s article is by Smt. Jayanthi Janakiraman, from Madhuramurali magazine, June 1997 issue.

A mahathma named Yogi Ramsuratkumar is blessing one and all from Thiruvannaamalai. Born near Kasi kshethra, He travelled across India, after becoming completely dispassionate and had the darshan of numerous saints such as Sri Ramana Maharishi and Sri Aurobindo. He got initiated into the mahamanthra of “Sri Ram Jeya Ram Jeya Jeya Ram ” by Kaasarkode Sri Ramadas Swamiji who was fondly called “Pappa ” by His devotees. He attained self-realization by just chanting this mahamanthra incessantly, just like Samartha Ramadasar. He had given up ablutions and used to call Himself a “Beggar”.

After getting initiated, He travelled across the country as a yatra to numerous places. At last, He settled down permanently in Tiruvannamalai, which invites the realized souls. During the initial days, He used to live under the Punnai tree in the railway station. Then, until not too long ago, He used to reside in a home offered by a devotee and blessed everyone. Currently, He is gracing from a big ashram  constructed in “Agrahaara Kollai” to spread Rama nama and eradicate the miseries of the people.

Nagercoil Sri Pon Kamaraj was a famous lawyer by profession. Right from childhood, he was spiritual and had unwavering affection towards sadhus. It was the time on the shores of Kanyakumari, when a saint named “Mayamma” was blessing one and all. Sri Pon Kamaraj had utmost devotion towards Sri Mayamma. At this juncture, he was diagnosed with a terminal disease and surrendered to Sri Mayamma with so much grief. Upon the instruction from Sri Mayamma, he came to Tiruvannamalai, and surrendered to Bhagwan Yogi Ramsuratkumar. All his diseases were eradicated by His mercy, and is completely healthy now. He quit his profession from that point and dedicated his life to the service of his Guru. He is celebrating his Guru in the large temple that he built in his native place of Kaanimadam and is spreading his Guru’s name and greatness.

He is very affectionate to our Sri Guruji. Sri Guruji went to Kaanimadam and participated in the grand celebrations held on Chithra Pournami day, last month. Sri Guruji did a discourse on Rama nama and the greatness of the Guru in a very touching manner. All the people that had congregated there listened to it with utmost devotion.

Sri Guruji went to a village named “Ravana Samudhram” near Tirunelveli, on his way back. It is the native village of a Maadhusri named Meenakshi who was devoted to Sri Guruji so much. Sri Guruji went to her home. The villagers who had assembled there, requested Sri Guruji to do a discourse and He did so. The youth of that village were so inclined towards chanting nama. They performed dhivya nama sankeerthan in Sri Guruji’s presence devoutly. Sri Guruji was extremely elated.
