Sri Jagannath Rath Yatra Celebration – 10th year celebration by Namadwaar, Atlanta

By the immense grace of Sri Swamiji, Sri Jagannath Parivar, and Sri Premikavaradha Thakurji, Atlanta Namadwaar joyfully celebrated Sri Jagannath Rath Yatra on May 30, 2026, at Yugalkunj Temple in Duluth. The celebrations were held from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM and marked a special milestone—the 10th year of Rath Yatra celebrations.

This beautiful event was the result of weeks of careful planning by a team of dedicated devotees, who worked with sincerity and devotion to bring everything together. By the blessings of Jagannath, Thakurji, and Guruji, every aspect of the celebration fell into place smoothly, making it a truly fulfilling and memorable experience.
Devotees from across metro Atlanta came together in large numbers to take part in this joyful occasion. The Rath was beautifully assembled and decorated, creating a festive and devotional atmosphere. As the Jagannath Parivar arrived, everyone welcomed them with loud chants of “Jai Jagannath” and the Mahamantra, filling the surroundings with energy and devotion.
The Rath, carrying Sri Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra, was pulled around the temple premises. Devotees walked along, singing bhajans, offering Madhurageetham, and continuously chanting Nama. The entire space was filled with joy, devotion, and a strong sense of togetherness. People of all ages—from young children to elders—joined in, making it a truly special experience for everyone.
One of the most beautiful parts of this year’s celebration was the Chappan Bhog arranged on the temple lawn. The Jagannath Parivar, adorned in beautiful garments and shimmering jewelry, was seated under the open sky, surrounded by trees and greenery. This simple yet divine setting created a peaceful and almost magical feeling, where nature seemed to quietly become part of the celebration.
The Chappan Bhog included a wide variety of offerings, all prepared with devotion by the community. The prasadam was distributed to everyone present, and dinner was served to all devotees, making it a complete and fulfilling experience.
The cultural performances added even more joy to the event. Kum Sahana presented a graceful dance to the Madhurageetham “Navaneetha Naatyam.” The children of Alpharetta Gopakuteeram delighted everyone with their dance for “Yamunai Karaill” and their offering of Krishnashtakam, bringing devotion and enthusiasm to the stage.
The event was graced by the chief guest:
Sri R. Matthew Reeves, Georgia House Representative from the 99th district since 2022, who joined devotees in pulling the Rath and later addressed everyone, expressing his happiness at being part of such a vibrant cultural celebration.
By the grace of Sri Swamiji, Sri Jagannath Parivar, and Sri Thakurji, over 300 devotees attended the celebration. Devotees joyfully partook in the Chappan Bhog prasadam and dinner, cherishing both the food and the blessings that came with it.
As the celebration came to an end, devotees left with happy hearts, carrying beautiful memories of a truly divine Rath Yatra. Celebrating the 10th year made it even more meaningful, reminding everyone of the continued grace and the strong sense of devotion and unity that has grown over the years.
