The Story of Namadwaar Ontario from Devotees’ Perspective

What is meant to happen often has a beautiful and interesting way of showing up – naturally and perfectly – and that is exactly how the founding of our Namadwaar in the Toronto area of Ontario unfolded as well. The building that is now Namadwaar had long served as a church. When it went on the market in May, our fellow satsang families in Canada inquired immediately; however, a buyer had already been found, and the building was on conditional sale. Months later, the “For Sale” sign was still up for the building and when our satsang families checked again, they learned that the first sale had fallen through, but a second buyer had been found, and the building was once again on conditional sale. Just a few days later, the second conditional sale also fell through and by Sri Swamiji’s grace, we were finally able to purchase the building. The most remarkable part was why the earlier sales had fallen through: since the building had been designated as a place of worship, the county would not approve its sale for any other purpose. The initial two buyers had planned to change its use, leading to the sales being denied. Speaking to those involved in this process, it was clear that this was a divine play, and the building was meant to become the place of worship that it is now – our very own Namadwaar Ontario.

From the time the building was purchased, to the official opening of the Namadwaar, which was approximately a month, there was a plethora of planning and work to be done. Each satsang family gathered and worked together, taking on various kainkaryam, including renovations, decorations, catering, shopping, security installations, and community outreach. The flooring was changed from carpet to hardwood and the sannidhi included heated flooring to make our beloved Sri Premika Varadan-Madhuri Sakhi comfortable during the cold weather. By the third week of October, all major renovations were complete, and preparations for the auspicious opening had officially begun. Accommodations were arranged for incoming satsang families and elaborate decorations for the sannidhi, Thakurji’s jhula, and the rest of Namadwaar, were made. Although all satsang families had confidence that Sri Swamiji would ensure the opening ran smoothly, the love and dedication that was poured into each task was nothing short of remarkable. By the time the opening weekend arrived, Namadwaar Ontario and its respective families were ready for a weekend filled with immense joy and celebration.

The auspicious opening weekend festivities began that Friday (Nov 7, 2025) with many families flying into Ontario and immediately immersing themselves in satsang. The celebrations opened with Sri Guru Paduka abhishekam, followed by rendition of Madhurageethams and devotees reminiscing their experiences. Devotees from all over North America came, each describing how their respective Namadwaars were founded and their divine experiences with our Guru Maharaj. Saturday Nov 8 was filled entirely with satsang, from sunrise to sunset. Kids, teenagers, adults, and all families sang bhajans, read Ashtapadi, engaged in Divyanamam, and continued preparing Namadwaar for the official opening by Sri Swamiji the next morning. At last, the opening day Nov 9, 2025 began with Sri Premika Varadan-Madhuri Sakhi being welcomed into Namadwaar and Sri Swamiji virtually inaugurating Namadwaar Ontario with a beautiful blessing message conveying the importance of the Divine Name and his joy in opening the new Namadwaar in Canada. The festivities then continued with Radha Kalyanam.

That evening, the Mayor of Ingersoll, Mr. Brian Petrie, and Canadian Member of Parliament, Mr. Arpan Khanna, came for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of Namadwaar. With their presence, GOD Canada was formally recognized with a plaque, and the Canadian House of Commons officially announced the opening of Namadwaar Ontario.

When conversing with attendees of this auspicious and divine weekend, every reflection of the opening weekend circled back to the divine grace and compassion of our Guru Maharaj. Through His immense grace, all things happen at the precise time and moment they are meant to, in their own perfect and unique way. The opening of our Namadwaar Ontario was no exception.
