Sri Swamiji’s Message of Universal Love Reverberates in the Australian Parliament

Dr. Bhagyaji, personal secretary of HH Maharanyam Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji, was invited to speak at the Australian parliament on Oct 17, 2019, at the launch of the National Mental Health program.

It was a joyous moment when Sri Bhagyaji delivered Sri Swamiji’s message of Universal Love at that august gathering halfway across the world, that included the Australian Health Minister and several other federal ministers and parliamentarians.

Saluting the spirit of the Australian government to focus on serving those in need and for prioritizing mental well-being in these lonely, competitive and stress-filled times, Bhagyaji pointed out that while people give a lot of priority to intellectual and physical fitness, mental fitness is often relegated to the backbench.

Yet it is the mind that defines us as human beings; and it is mental well-being that is key to leading a life filled with happiness, peace and love.

He quoted the lovely example of the mirror that is often shared by Sri Swamiji – A man looks in the mirror and find his image dirty and hazy. How can he get a clear image? For this, he must wipe the mirror clean. The mirror is our mind. Only when the mind is clean can what we behold be beautiful. When we clean the mind with spiritual practices such as mantra meditation, we begin to see the beauty of our own self.

And how does this help humanity? When we develop inner clarity, it leads to inner transformation, which blossoms love in our hearts for all. Love – the common thread that binds all cultures, and which is the basis of spirituality across all paths. This is Sri Swamiji’s beautiful message.
