Topic: Teachings of Sri Ramana Maharshi
Venue: Residence of Mr. Sriram Ramanujam and Smt. Nisha Giri
Pravachana Karta: Kum. Poornima Kumarasami
Poornimaji spoke to an eager crowd of about 25 on Sri Ramana Maharshi’s teachings. She explained His basic philosophy of Self-enquiry and looking within to find the real ‘I’. But she also added the caveat that Self-enquiry was not the path for everyone. She was quite candid that Atma Vichara was not easy. She also pointed out that Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi was not against Bhakti marga and that many of his works emanate pure Bhakti. She confirmed that constantly chanting the Lord’s name will help build concentration and quiet the mind for meditation. She advocated starting with chanting loudly, and subsequently progressing to murmuring and finally to chanting mentally.
At the end of the session she answered questions from the audience. The talk concluded with a few minutes of Namakirtan.
