Cherished Memoirs 84 – My Guru As I See Him

This series chronicles sweet experiences recounted by the devotees of HH Maharanyam Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji as well as some divine experiences of Sri Swamiji himself. These articles are translations from the series “Madhuramaana Mahaneeyar” that is published every month in Madhuramurali Tamil monthly magazine.

My Guru As I See Him

I had written earlier about Sri Guruji staying in a small apartment, prior to moving to his current abode. I am writing about an incident that happened during those times from my memory.
Ms. Uma & Usha were two sisters who had completely surrendered to Sri Guruji. Their entire family was completely devoted to Sri Maha Periyava. The entire family followed strict saadhanaas. Sri Guruji was very fond of this family due to their devotion to Sri Maha Periyava. Their mother’s favorite deities were Devi & Sri Krishna.
One day, while finishing up the archana to her favorite deity Lord Sri Krishna and prayers, she wept soulfully and asked “I have been praying to you for so long. Is it not time yet to be merciful towards me? Could you please let me know that I have your blessings, even in an obscure way?
Around the same time, someone closely serving Sri Maha Periyava came to visit Sri Guruji. Sri Guruji, while thinking about arranging a meal for the guest, thought that it would be best to take Sri Periyavaa’s devotees to their own kind so that they would also be happy. The time that Sri Guruji entered the residence was exactly the time the mother wrapped up prayers to Sri Krishna and emerged. Upon Sri Guruji’s darshan, along with a close aide, serving Sri Maha Periyava at her residence, that too for a meal brought so much joy to her. She felt that her prayers had been answered. She felt very happy, served food to both and realized that this was the indication that she prayed for, before.
