Boston GOD members of Hopkinton and Westbrough, celebrated MadhuraUtsav this year with Sri Poornimaji at Hopkinton on September 3rd and 4th 2017 at Hopkinton Center of Arts. The first day started with the Gopakuteeram kids of Westbrough, enacting the story of Senanaayi. This was followed by the Hopkinton Gopakuteeram kids enacting the story of Meera bai. These plays highlighted the importance namakirtan and bhakti which are fed to the tender minds through Gopakuteeram. This was followed by Sri Poornimajis talk which highlighted the importance of Parayana of Srimad Bhagavatam and Namakirtan in this age of Kali.
On the second day, the devotees enjoyed taking the sides of Radha and Krishna, arranging for their wedding – Radha – Madhava Vivaah. As the divine couple got on their palanquin, the devotees carried them around the hall as a procession. As the hall echoed with Ashtapathis, the divine couple exchanged garlands. As the little girls carried the seeru snacks, the ladies brought in the wedding clothes for the couple. Amidst the chanting of Radha and Krishna’s pravaram, churnikai and mangalashtakam the divine couple got wedded. This was followed by Sri Poornimajis talk where she highlighted the essence of Bhagavatam. Narrating the life of Narada, she emphasized how bhakti sprouts in the hearts of a one treading the path of Bhagavata Dharma. She used Narada’s story to also highlight the importance of Namakirtan in this age of Kali.
