Sita Rama Kalyanam: A Fundraiser by the Tampa G.O.D. Chapter

A Divine Union: Tampa GOD community Hosts Soul-Stirring Sita Rama Kalyanam

With the immense grace of Madhuri Sakhi sametha Thakurji and Sri Swamiji, the Tampa GOD community celebrated a magnificent Sita Rama Kalyanam at the Sri Ayyappa Society. This special event, organized as a fundraiser for Tampa Namadwaar, was the culmination of a month of meticulous planning by our dedicated families.

The celebration was truly unique, as it offered a participatory experience rarely seen. Forty-six families joined us, each receiving a small Bhadrachala Rama idol brought specifically from India, along with a portrait of Lord Rama blessed by Sri Swamiji. Unlike traditional ceremonies where devotees simply observe, every registered family performed the wedding rituals for their own deities in unison with the main Murthy on stage.

The program beautifully blended Bhajan and Vedic sampradaya, featuring Thodaya Mangalam, Guru Kirtans, Kalyana Ashtapadhi, Muthu Kootal, and a vibrant Divya Nama where everyone danced joyfully. The ceremony concluded with the sacred Talambaralu. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our talented musicians—Theju Balaji, Balaji Narasimhan, Padmasri Balaji, Ruthwika, and Bhavana—and our instrumentalists, Maruti Prasad, Namdev Balaji, and Krishnan Vasudevan. We are also grateful to our adult and high school volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure the event ran smoothly. Participants left with hearts full of divine grace, cherishing the rare opportunity to personally perform the marriage of the Lord.

The mention of numerous sponsors for the Prasadam and a “sumptuous dinner” really highlights the spirit of Seva (service) and hospitality that defines these gatherings. Relishing Prasadam together is often the perfect “cherry on top” of such a spiritual event.

Maha prabhu Jayanthi
Maha Prabhu Jayanthi was celebrated as a soul-stirring start of the month in a devotee’s house on March 7th. We did abishekam to our Takurji and Sri Guruji’s holy Padukas. There is something truly special about a community coming together for Abishekam and collective Mahamantra chanting—especially when every generation, from the kids to the elders, gets involved.
