Time: 6:30pm – 8pm
Topic: Practical Aspects of Indian Spirituality
Venue: Residence of Mr. Narayanan Sathiamoorthy at Cambridge, MA
Pravachana Karta: Sri Ramanujam Mukundagiri

Have we paid any importance to our mind? “What is happiness? What happens to the mind when one is happy? These are a few questions that I ask myself but have not succeeded in getting a clear answer until I attended the satsang today”, said a devotee.

Ramuji explained the state of mind when one is happy. The following is a gist of Ramujis speech, “Some say that they feel happy when they play a game, to some- happiness is just enjoying nature; some claim that they are happy if they listen to music. If happiness is experienced by all of them then why is the reason for happiness different? We really miss to see that happiness is a state of mind. Some experience it when some when they play the game, others when they are with nature and yet others when they listen to music.”

Ramuji’s correlation of happiness, state of mind and how it could be controlled by simple breathing exercises was phenomenal. He taught the listeners the trick to experience happiness always and not attribute it to any thing/action which could turn to addiction later on. Getting rid of stress has been a very important move for the youngsters of today. It was indeed amazing to note that simple breathing exercises could keep us at peace, calm and stress-free. Undoubtedly, Ramuji inspired the listeners to spend 15 to 20 min a day for breathing exercises.
