Srimad Bhagavatha Saptaham in Toronto

The month of June’2016 was indeed very memorable to devotees in Toronto as they were blessed to take part in the groundbreaking of GOD satsangs in Toronto by Sri Poornimaji. By the immense grace and compassion of Sri Takurji and Sri Swamiji, Srimad Bhagavata Saptaham by Sri Poornima ji started on June 20,2016 at Sri Siva Sathyanarayana Temple, Mississauga, Ontario. It was very well received by all the devotees. Close to 100 devotees attended the discourse series daily and listened to the lectures with awe and reverence.

On the first day, Sri Poornimaji narrated the greatness of Srimad Bhagavatam and explained how Sage Narada came to the earth during Kali Yuga and found Bhakti and her children Jnana and Vairagya in a very weak state. By listening to Srimad Bhagavatam they were revived back to their original state.

On the second day Poornima Ji started elaborating on Canto 1 . Since most of the devotees are listening to Srimad Bhagavatam for the first time, she explained that Srimad Bhagavatam is a conversation between King Parikshit and Sukacharya. She beautifully pointed out that Bhagavatam is a fruit of the Vedas that everyone can drink and relish – “Pibatha bAgavatha rasam Alayam”.
On the third day , Sri Poornima Ji narrated the birth of Bhagavatham and explained how Narad Muni in his previous life as a son of maid came into contact with sages becomes liberated.

The fourth day was filled with Bhakthi Rasa as Sri Poornima ji beautifully explained Kunti Stuti and Bhishma Stuti. She highlighted that Kunti always prayed for more and more problems , so that Krishna is always by her side. Such is her gratitude to Bhagawan. Bhishma lying on the bed of arrows in the Kurukshetra war field, but even in such great pain he was longing to see Krishna and also talked about the birth of Vishnu Sahasranama.
On all the days , Poornima ji highlighted the greatness of satsang and that chanting of divine names are the only way of liberation in Kali Yuga and how “Satsang” and “Dursang” can have greater impact in individual lives.
The fifth day ,Poornima ji narrated Daksha Yagnam and Dhruva Charitram. The story of the 5-year old boy Dhruva nearly brought tears in everyone’s eyes and how small child’s tapas took him close to a Guru and Bhagawan came down to bless Dhruva. It was indeed a soul-stirring narration.
On the sixth day, Poornima ji narrated the Jada Bharatha and Ajamila Charitram. From Bharatha Yogishwara’s charitram, Bhagawan shows how a Gnani will be and explained how one’s vasanas (lateral impression) makes a great impact in the cycle of births and deaths. Through Ajamila charitram Poornima ji explained, how chanting of the divine names even without one’s knowledge will saves one from all the sins committed in this life.
The seventh and the final day was the day of celebration for all the rasikas. Toronto God Satsang families sang a few namavalis and chanted the Mahamantra. Sri Poornima ji narrated Sri Krishna Jananam and various childhood divine plays of Lord Krishna. The state of bliss was experienced by all the devotees. A small cradle was decorated with an Krishna idol and children enjoyed rocking the cradle. On the same day Poornima ji also explained how Rukmini was in such a great love towards the lord, just by listening to the glories of the Lord. All the devotees enjoyed the scenes explained in Rukmini Kalyanam.
As a last part, Poornima Ji prayed for all the devotees who had the oppurtunity to listen to the Srimad Bhagavatam, and all the families did Arathi and chanted the Mahamantra and concluded the Saptaham wit the rendition of “Kaliyayum bali Kollum” kirtan.
