Memorial Day, which is observed on the last Monday of May in the USA, commemorates all the soldiers who died while in military service. Wars and battles have been a part of the world since time immemorial. However, there is a set of soldiers who fought in a particular war who were the most fortunate among all the soldiers who had ever fought a war or would ever fight in the future!

Bharata Pradakshina – Kashmir

The heavenly land of Kashmir gets its name from Sage Kashyap. Many a saint has travelled to this holy place to impart spiritual knowledge and establish schools of learning. It is said that Adi Sankara was so pleased with the knowledge of the locals that he called Kashmir an abode of Goddess Saraswati. It is no wonder then that Kashmir has a plethora of native saints who showed the easiest path to attain God.

Kids’ Storytime – Simple Service, Wondrous Fruit!

Shankara went to a nearby gurukulam (school) to learn the Vedas and the Shastras. Shankara was very good in studies. During the course of his studies, as per the brahmacharya dharma, he had to go from house to house to collect bhiksha (food given as alms).
