Sri Krishna Janmashtami Celebrations in Dallas, TX–Sep’2015

By the immense grace of Sri Swamiji, the G.O.D Dallas chapter celebrated the “Krishna Janmashtami” in a remarkable way by performing nine continuous days of Akanda Mahamantra Kirtan for 12 hours every day at different houses.  The celebration started off on Saturday,September 5th at Smt. Jayanthi and Sri. Maya Koothan’s residence. Being a weekend, the house was filled with devotees and kids chanting the Nama throughout the day. The divine couple was decorated with beautiful flower garlands. Gopa Kuteeram kids enacted a play, danced for Sri Swamiji’s compositions;Hari katha on Krishna Jananam was performed. Then everyone recited the first three chapters in Canto10 of Srimad Bhagavatham. Nandotsavasam was celebrated with Sri Venkat Swamy ji carrying Krishna on his head across the Yamuna River as Vasudeva, kids then broke the pot of goodies, uri adi(pinnate) and celebrated Sri Madhuri Saki Sameda Sri Premika Varadha Takurji ’s second birthday with cake cutting and by singing Happy Birthday song in the “Hare Rama…” tune…

From the second day through ninth day,12 hour Akanda nama happened in the residences of Smt.Sudha Karthik , Smt. Uma Meyyapan , Smt. Banu Shiva, Smt. Mahalakshmi Raj Rajani, Smt. Yamini Zivan , Smt. Suganya Rajesh, Smt. Lakshmi Vara Senapathi and Smt. Jeyanthi Dhanaraj.

At Smt. Banu’s residence,  since it  was an Ekadasi day, Akanda Nama concluded with singing of few verses of Sri Jeya Deva Swami’s Ashtapathi. On Thursday, September 10th, being the auspicious day of Govinda Pattabhishekam in Sri Swamiji’s Ashram, some of Sri Swamiji’s compositions on Govinda Giridhari were sung by kids and elders at the residence of Sri Zivan. Prasadam was offered on a banana leaf and Indra Stuti from Srimad Bhagavatham was recited as part of  Govinda Pattabhishekam celebrations.

The final day of Nama Navaham was at Smt. Jeyanthi Dhanaraj ji’s house. The 12 hour nama was followed by recitation of Vishnusahasranama, Hanuman Chalisa and Hari katha by kids. The grand celebration of Nama navaham concluded with Hanumath pooja.

Hari katha by the kids on weekends and Unjal Utsav was performed in grandeur on weekends and on Monday, September 7th 2015. Overall around 40 new families took part in the Nama Navaham all over Dallas. A prayer box was kept on all the days and lot of devotees submitted their prayers at the holy feet of the Divine couple. One devotee even shared her experience about her prayer being answered already!
